Easter in Camino Countries

Praise be to the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ! In his great mercy he has given us new birth into a living hope through the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead.
Christians all over the globe celebrate Easter this week. Some will celebrate with an elaborate and colorful array of Church traditions that have taken place for centuries. Others will focus more on chocolate bunnies, baby chicks, and eggs. And some will take time to reflect profoundly on Christ's death and resurrection.
This range of experiences is seen across Camino's ministry fields, from the colorful Easter alfombras and procesiones of Central America, to the often extreme acts of penance carried out in southern Spain, and the nearly complete absence of religious tradition in largely atheistic Uruguay.
This weekend, as you and your family celebrate the incredible truth of Christ's resurrection and gift of eternal life, remember to pray for those around the world who have a concept of Easter but struggle to understand the significance of how Christ's suffering and death was not the end of the story. We have hope because He lives!
