Pray as we Unite Two Missions into One for God's Glory
On Wednesday, November 28th, Avant Ministries and Camino Global announced their intent to unite these two historic and impactful organizations for God’s glory.
This is a huge task that will require considerable resources to become a reality. Why would we consider uniting these 2 organizations? While there are a number of reasons for this change, one of the main elements is that this is a key opportunity to develop missional synergy.
MISSIONAL: Alan Hirsch states, “A proper understanding of missional begins with recovering a missionary understanding of God. By his very nature God is a "sent one" who takes the initiative to redeem his creation. Because we are the "sent" people of God, the church is the instrument of God's mission in the world.”
- PRAY that God will give clear vision and boldness as we work together to “make disciples of all nations”.
- PRAY that will enable us to focus our energy and resources on strategic responsibilities and regions which fulfill our God-given role as “sent ones”.
SYNERGY: The term synergy comes from the Greek word συνεργός, synergos, meaning ‘working together’. Synergy is the interaction of elements that when combined produce a total effect that is greater than the sum of the individual elements, contributions, etc. (Dictionary.com)
Avant and Camino leaders feel strong affinity in a number of key areas, and believe that missional synergy through coming together is capable of enhancing global impact for both. In other words, we will accomplish more for God’s glory together than we would have if we remained apart.
- PRAY for the leadership, missionaries and staff as we work in more than 14 task force groups to “hammer out” the details of this transition process in innovative ways that will lead us to be more effective together.
- PRAY that the missional synergy we desire will come about as the Holy Spirit unites us and uses us as a tool in His powerful hand, enabling us to accomplish more together than we could have separately… all for God’s glory!
