In the Hispanic USA field our focus is discipleship and church leadership training among first and second generation Hispanics. We often partner with a non-spanish speaking church that wants to reach out to the ever growing Hispanic population in their communities. The priority process begins from the initial steps of discipling a new believer, to the personal transformation through training in the Bible and its spiritual disciplines, to ultimately the goal of equipping them in ministry skills for service.  In the broader scope of the mission we are dedicated to the often neglected needs of pastoral care and renewal.  Who shepherds the shepherd?

Discipleship, Leadership Training, and Pastoral Renewal

Craig and Barbara, married 46 years, have been missionaries 43 years with Camino Global since DTS graduation in 1973. Before going to Spain, they planted Grand Prairie Bible Church. Beginning in 1976, the Prathers joined the teams of Spanish leaders and Camino missionaries in a church planting strategy targeting six cities.  The Prathers ministered for two years in Madrid and 10 years in Bilbao, Spain, establishing the Evangelical Church of Santuchu and a Lay Bible Training Center.  In collaboration with the Camino team and pastors from six churches, Craig helped in the establishment of the Seven Oaks Camp and Retreat Center.

They and their four children Joy, Joel, Jennifer, and Jessica returned to Texas in 1989. Since 1991 they have done church planting among Hispanic immigrants in Arlington, Texas. They were privileged to partner in establishing two Hispanic congregations under the paradigm of “one church, two languages”.  Since 2011 Craig has enjoyed serving with the Cuba team offering extension courses in four key cities twice a year for training church leaders. In 2016 Craig & Barbara were invited to concentrate their ministry efforts in two areas strategic in the Camino fields: 1. Discipleship and church leadership training 2. Pastoral care and renewal.
